A Groom’s Guide to Wedding Photos
Hi Grooms! So many wedding planning tips are bride-centric, and while I agree that she likely is more concerned about photos than you are, you also deserve some direction and help. Here is your comprehensive list of tips to make wedding day photos less stressful and so much more you.
Choose Details That You Are Excited About
It's all about the little things. Your cufflinks, the boutonniere on your jacket, or the special touches in your outfit—these details tell a story. Get hyped about what you choose! Your shoes, watch, signature cocktail, tie, etc. should all be photographed to add more detail and interest to your wedding gallery. Choose things that excite you and that represent your personal style.
Make the Most of Your Time with Your Groomsmen
Getting ready and hanging out with your friends is one of the most fun parts of your wedding day! Take game day pics as you all are showing up with your tuxes. Plan for group shots, candid moments, or raise a glass together (or pour one out) before your ceremony. If you have a few hours to get ready then you can play video games, football, beer pong, or whatever you all do together. These photos are so special as you get older.
Calm Your Nerves
Make getting ready fun instead of stressful. Make sure you’re on time and getting ready when you are supposed to so that we don’t have to rush pictures or worry about getting you where you need to be. Put on some music, take a shot if that’s your thing, and get ready to hang out with your future partner (just with. a camera third wheel).
Be You
Authenticity is key. Let your photographer capture your natural expressions, quirks, and genuine emotions. These candid moments often make the best photographs! Don’t be worried about looking awkward - your photographer will help guide you. Interact with your partner in ways that feel comfortable and natural. Celebrate the day together and your joy will 100% shine through in all the photos.
Get Camera Ready
One of the best tips for being comfortable in front of the camera is to have an engagement session with your photographer prior to your wedding! An engagement session is such a good opportunity to break the ice and get comfortable being photographed.
