Where to Elope in Moab, Utah
Moab’s red rock desert is one of the most breathtaking places to elope, and has endless opportunities for epic photos and adventure. As your Moab Elopement Photographer I’ll help you find the perfect spot, take care of the permits, and capture your day exactly as it feels—so you can stay present and soak up all the feelings together. Here are some of my favorite Moab locations to elope at:
ARCHES NATIONAL PARK
Arches National Park is an unforgettable place to elope surrounded by stunning red rock formations, sandstone arches, and the dreamiest desert light. Just a quick drive from Moab, it’s the perfect mix of convenience and adventure—whether you’re hiking to a hidden arch for a private ceremony or catching sunset views with the red rock glowing around you. There are so many epic spots for saying your vows, and the adventure doesn’t have to stop after you say “I do”— there are a ton of incredible hikes, stargazing, scenic drives, and laid-back exploring.
2. CANYONLANDS NATIONAL PARK
Canyonlands National Park feels like stepping into another world—massive canyons, towering mesas, and endless desert views that make the perfect backdrop for an intimate wedding day. Just outside Moab, it’s easy to access yet feels completely wild and untouched, with so many epic spots to explore. Imagine saying your vows on the edge of a cliff as the sun sets, or sharing a quiet moment together overlooking the winding Colorado River below. Canyonlands is ideal for those who love off roading and exploring, perfect for anyone wanting a multi day elopement adventure.
3. DEAD HORSE POINT
Dead Horse Point State Park feels like standing on the edge of the world, with incredible cliffside canyon views and multi colored rocks. This spot is perfect for couples wanting jaw-dropping scenery without a long trek and generally with less crowds. The easy access makes it perfect for both adventurous elopements and intimate ceremonies with a few friends + family. I love combining this spot with other nearby secluded areas that feel like you’re getting married on Mars.
4. GOBLIN VALLEY
Goblin Valley State Park feels like stepping into a fantasy world of odd rock formations. Tucked away in the Utah desert, it’s a bit off the beaten path but totally worth the adventure for couples craving something unique and secluded. Whether you’re up for exploring hidden corners of the valley or keeping things simple with an intimate ceremony near the viewpoints, Goblin Valley is perfect for couples who love camping, hiking, and adventuring.
5. MOAB HIKING TRAILS
Moab has so many hiking trails that are located outside of the National and State Parks, and they can have equally epic desert backdrops with less onlookers! Imagine sharing your vows on a secluded overlook after a sunrise hike, getting married under a massive red rock arch, or popping champagne at the edge of a cliff! Whether you’re avid hikers or just looking for a short walk, I’ll help you choose a trail that fits your vision.
Things to keep in mind -
PERMITS
You’ll need a special use permit for any National or State Park, and there are rules and regulations for having a ceremony inside the parks. (Pro tip: hiring me means I’ll take care of all the permits and make sure we’re abiding by all of the rules! Less stress for you and more time for the fun details)
WHEN TO ELOPE IN MOAB
Moab has become quite a popular destination, especially in spring and fall. Arches NP even requires timed reservations for entry to the park from April to October.
I always recommend either an off season wedding, a weekday, or a sunrise ceremony to avoid crowds. Winter in Moab is beautiful - snow on red rock is stunning! Summers are very hot, but we can shoot for early and late in the day to avoid peak sun.
